Ftr yes I realized about one minute later my brain had done something weird and I'd misspelled discourse at the top of the post, but you can't retroactively fix emails so that's going to be my day, I suppose...

> I do not believe we should pause now

I continue to not understand how this is a remotely sane position.

In a saner, more coordinated world where you know you don’t know how to solve for the equilibrium in advance (let alone solve the thorny issues around alignement of superintelligence, but here you can still say we’re not yet there), you make a 3-5 years pause as soon as you have Claude Code with Sonnet 3.6, to let diffusion do its stuff, and then observe, orient and decide. I fully understand why in our world Anthropic alone can’t make that decision. I don’t understand why it’s not, in abstract, a desirable policy.

In your recent interview in Cognitive Revolution, you said something like "even if we have reached the top of the curve with 4.6 Opus/GPT 5.4, we are wildly unprepared for the radical changes that those capacities alone will bring". I agree with that. The obvious conclusion should be : "pause, let things diffuse, observe, orient, decide" ?

Why are we so much in a rush exactly ?
