Women in our society are strongly urged not to get pregnant when they’re young and unmarried. And by the time we’re done with our education, financially stable, and married, many of us are 30 or 35. So you’ve got 5 or 10 years to switch your entire mindset from “MUST NOT GET PREGNANT” to “get pregnant now.” Plus, as Zvi mentioned, there’s a lot of criticism of people who have kids incorrectly. If you don’t own a house or you don’t have an extra bedroom for a kid, if you’re overweight or unhealthy, if your marriage isn’t perfect, if you have unresolved psychological issues, it’s easy to think “I’ll just fix this and then i’ll be in a better place to have kids.” And then 5 or 10 years passes and it’s too late.
