It's not weird because it's not embodied yet. Doing physical things in the physical world is (for now) a real barrier (although it is starting to crumble).

The real weirdness begins when you call a plumber and 5 drones with a plumbing snake show up, and fix the problem in less than 30 minutes.

It's frustrating to see Altman skip over the most difficult and important questions without even a nod to them - nothing at all suggesting that "just solve alignment" might be hard. And especially the line about "The sooner the world can start a conversation ... the better" - when he is avoiding that conversation to the best of his ability.

Like you say, I am sympathetic to avoiding any talk of sacred value tradeoffs, but this reads much more as pretending those tradeoffs don't exist.
